Demo video: Auto Product Code Generation
Description
This module provides automatic Internal Reference (default_code) generation for Products and Variants.
Key Features
- Enable/disable auto code generation per company in Settings.
- Auto-generate Internal Reference:
* Code is generated from Product Category config (Sequence + Product Code Prefix).
* If the category is not configured and the "Get code from product name" option is enabled, the system creates a prefix from the first letter of each word in the Product Name.
* Internal Reference is only auto-generated when the field is empty.
- Bulk update:
* Action Update Product Code on Product and Variant to regenerate codes for selected records (this action overwrites existing codes).
Benefits
- Less manual entry of internal codes.
- Standardize code rules by product category.
Who should use
- Businesses with many products/variants that need to standardize internal codes by product group.
Technical note
- The "Get code from product name" option is configured by system parameter to_product_code_sequence.product_code_from_name.
